# Carboxylated 96-Well Plates

Plates for promoting the **covalent immobilisation of compounds with reactive free amino groups**. The surface features a negatively charged carboxylated layer, enabling the binding of peptides and other molecules through specific covalent bonds using **EDC-mediated amination**.

Available in clear, white and black polystyrene, in breakable strip, strip and solid formats. Suitable for ELISA, luminescence, fluorescence and chemiluminescent assays.

## What covalent coupling solves

Covalent immobilisation overcomes three limitations of physical adsorption:

- **It binds what adsorption cannot** — small molecules (1,000–5,000 Da) such as peptides, drugs, toxins or hormones, which bind weakly or not at all by passive adsorption.
- **It orients the molecule** — maintaining the integrity and accessibility of specific active sites.
- **It improves storage stability** — minimising the risk of spontaneous desorption.

This makes carboxylated plates the correct choice for sensitive assays requiring precise molecular interactions, where a High Binding plate would simply fail to retain the target.
